MRL - Charities

We like to help!

At MRL we strongly believe that we should contribute to the welfare and happiness of others at the same time as achieving corporate growth objectives.

We actively encourage and support colleagues to become involved in fundraising activities for our nominated causes.  We do this by making corporate donations to the chosen causes, sponsoring employees fund raising activities and also by granting every MRL employee paid leave each year to prepare for, undertake or recover from fundraising activities on behalf of our nominated charities.

The causes we support are the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton (The Alex) and the Trevor Mann Baby Unit (TMBU) at the Royal Sussex County Hospital – we support these through the Rockinghorse Children’s Charity. Rockinghorse was originally established in 1967 to raise funds to buy specialist baby equipment for The Alex, TMBU and other children’s hospitals in the South East of England.

Each year we also support Jeans for Genes – a UK charity that funds care and support for children with genetic disorders as well as funding research into the genetic causes of disorders and development of effective treatment and cures.

In 2010 the staff at MRL raised funds to buy a brand new incubator for the Trevor Mann Baby Unit – this is the specialist intensive care ward for premature & ill babies at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.  Fundraising was undertaken by MRL employees from all our offices and included colleagues taking part in the Brighton Marathon, the Paris Marathon, the Munich 10km run, the London – Paris cycle ride as well as less physically demanding activities.
