Lighting Consultant – Bespoke & High-End Projects

We are supporting a long-established, internationally recognised creator of bespoke lighting solutions in their search for a Lighting Consultant. The business operates within a highly specialist, design-led niche, working across heritage sites, prestigious private residences, landmark buildings and national art collections. Following significant investment and international expansion, they are growing their team and seeking a consultative, client-focused professional to help shape the next phase of their development.
The Role
This is a relationship-driven position that blends technical understanding, aesthetic judgement and confident client engagement. You will guide clients through the creation of tailored lighting solutions that enhance architecture, protect and showcase artworks, and elevate exceptional interiors. The company offers thorough on-the-job training and a structured handover with senior team members.
Key Responsibilities
Consult & Advise

Engage with architects, lighting designers, interior designers, art consultants, heritage specialists and private clients to understand design intent and practical constraints.

Assess spaces and artworks, advising on lighting strategies that balance conservation needs, visual quality and technical feasibility.

Communicate confidently across varied environments, from design studios and construction sites to heritage estates.
Design & Specify

Interpret briefs and translate them into accurate technical specifications.

Work with internal design, engineering and fabrication teams to develop bespoke solutions.

Provide field insights to support ongoing product development.
Project Stewardship

Prepare proposals, documentation and costed solutions.

Support mock-ups and site visits, coordinating with contractors and installers.

Maintain an organised pipeline and nurture long-term client relationships.
Market Engagement

Develop existing client relationships and support business growth.

Represent the company at industry events, trade fairs, CPD sessions and private presentations.

Stay informed on emerging technologies, standards and design trends.
Required Experience
-
Proven consultative sales or client-facing experience in lighting, architecture, interiors, engineering, AV/controls or similar.

Strong understanding of LED technologies and modern illumination principles.

Ability to interpret design intent and convert concepts into actionable technical direction.

Excellent communication, professionalism and diplomacy, with confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels.

Strong aesthetic awareness and a meticulous eye for detail.

Comfortable working in high-end, heritage and specialist environments.
Desired Experience (Beneficial)

Experience with high-end or bespoke lighting projects.

Exposure to heritage, museum, conservation or fine-art lighting.

Familiarity with fibre optic lighting systems.

Ability to interpret architectural plans and technical drawings.

Understanding of control systems and protocols.

Base salary: £35,000–£42,000 (DOE)
