Why this role exists

The Buyer will play a critical role in the APAC sourcing engine, responsible for identifying, qualifying, and purchasing electronic components from the open market to support global sales demand. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a high-velocity trading environment, understands market pricing dynamics, and can build trusted supplier relationships while protecting quality and margin.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing & Procurement

  • Actively engage suppliers via phone, email, and messaging platforms to obtain pricing, availability, lead times, and traceability.

  • Evaluate and negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and volume commitments to maximize margin and speed of execution.

  • Support urgent and shortage-driven customer requirements with fast turnaround sourcing.

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, distributors, OEM excess sellers, EMS, and inventory holders across APAC and globally.

  • Assess supplier credibility, part authenticity, and historical performance in collaboration with Quality and Compliance teams.

  • Expand the supplier base continuously to improve coverage, pricing competitiveness, and availability.

Market Intelligence & Trading Support

  • Monitor market trends including shortages, EOL notifications, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain disruptions.

  • Provide real-time market feedback to sales teams to support deal strategy and pricing decisions.

  • Assist in identifying arbitrage opportunities and remarketing excess inventory.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Account Executives, Quality, Logistics, and Finance teams to ensure smooth execution from purchase order to delivery.

  • Support documentation requirements related to traceability, compliance, and customer-specific quality standards.

  • Maintain accurate records in ERP/CRM systems and ensure timely updates on sourcing activity.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 2–6+ years of experience as a Buyer, Sourcing Specialist, or Trader within independent electronic component distribution, ITAD, EMS, or a high-volume trading environment.

  • Strong understanding of the open market / secondary market for electronic components.

  • Familiarity with key component categories such as ICs, memory (DRAM/NAND), CPUs/GPUs, storage, networking, passives, and connectors.

  • Proven negotiation skills with suppliers and ability to work under tight timelines.

  • Commercial mindset with strong attention to pricing, margin, and deal execution.

  • Comfortable with high outbound supplier engagement (calls, messaging, rapid follow-ups).

  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/CRM systems.

  • High level of integrity and awareness of quality, counterfeit risk, and compliance standards.
