Senior BSP Software Engineer

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading organisation within the satellite communications industry, for an experienced Senior BSP Engineer to join their engineering team.

The role will support the development of advanced satellite communication products, with a focus on embedded systems, firmware development, hardware/software integration and system bring-up.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Board Support Packages (BSPs) for ARM-based Linux real-time operating systems.

• Lead system bring-up and commissioning of new hardware platforms.

• Work closely with hardware engineers to initialise boards and validate hardware functionality.

• Develop and optimise Linux kernel device drivers for PCIe, Ethernet, SPI, I²C, UART, DMA and RF front-ends.

• Customise and enhance bootloaders for system initialisation.

• Troubleshoot and debug hardware/software integration issues.

About You

• 5–7+ years' experience in BSP development, embedded systems engineering and system bring-up.

• Strong C/C++ programming skills.

• Extensive experience with embedded Linux, including Device Trees and kernel-level development.

• Experience with U-Boot or similar bootloaders.

• Strong knowledge of hardware interfaces including SPI, I²C, UART, PCIe and Ethernet.

• Proficient with JTAG debuggers, logic analysers and oscilloscopes.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable: Experience with wireless systems development (digital and analogue), secure boot and security protocols, and scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
