Senior/Lead Embedded Linux Software Engineer

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading global technology organisation for an experienced Senior/Lead Embedded Linux Software Engineer to lead the development of Linux-based software for advanced communication and embedded systems.

This role combines hands-on software development with technical leadership and mentoring of a small engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead development of Linux user-space applications and system services.

• Develop C/C++ software for system configuration, monitoring and diagnostics.

• Design APIs and services for hardware control and telemetry.

• Provide technical leadership across software architecture and development.

• Conduct code reviews and design discussions.

• Mentor and support a team of 3–4 embedded software engineers.

• Collaborate with platform and hardware engineering teams.

• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and development workflows.

Key Requirements

• 8+ years’ experience in Linux software development.

• 3–4 years’ technical leadership or mentoring experience.

• Strong C/C++ development experience in Linux user-space environments.

• Strong knowledge of Linux system programming, including POSIX APIs, sockets and multithreading.

• Experience developing Linux system services or applications.

• Experience leading or mentoring small engineering teams.

• Strong Git and CI/CD experience.

• Python or scripting experience for automation and testing.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools is advantageous.

• Experience with embedded Linux, hardware interaction, FPGA-based systems, telecoms or networking platforms would be beneficial.
