Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Engineer to support customers in Japan. The role is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing advanced ion implantation equipment at customer sites. The ideal candidate will have direct experience with ion implantation systems and be fluent in both English and Japanese to ensure effective communication with customers and global teams.
Key Responsibilities

Perform installation, start-up, preventive maintenance, and corrective service of ion implantation equipment at customer fabs.

Diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues, ensuring minimum downtime and maximum tool performance.

Collaborate closely with engineering, applications, and technical support teams globally.

Provide on-site training and guidance to customer engineering and operations staff.

Document service activities, technical issues, and recommended improvements accurately in service reports.

Support product upgrades and modifications, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety standards.

Act as a customer advocate, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 customer support when required.
Qualifications
Essential
-
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent technical qualification) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field.

Proven hands-on experience with ion implantation systems in semiconductor manufacturing.

Strong troubleshooting skills, able to analyze complex mechanical, electrical, and process issues.

Fluency in both Japanese (native or advanced professional level) and English (professional working proficiency).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with customers and international teams.

Ability to work independently at customer sites with minimal supervision.

Willingness to travel frequently within Japan and occasionally internationally.
Desirable

Experience with other semiconductor capital equipment (etch, deposition, lithography).

Familiarity with SEMI standards and cleanroom protocols.

Prior experience in a multinational service or engineering environment.
