Lead ASIC Development Engineer
Advanced Mixed-Signal ASICs for Space Applications
Full-Time | Senior Technical Leadership Role
About the Opportunity
An innovative organisation operating at the forefront of space-grade semiconductor technology is seeking a Lead ASIC Development Engineer to drive the delivery of next-generation mixed-signal ASICs for deployment in space environments.
This role is ideal for a highly experienced ASIC professional who combines deep technical expertise with strong program leadership capability. You will lead complex development efforts, guide engineering teams, and ensure successful productization — without holding full organisational “Head of” responsibility.
If you have delivered complex SoCs, built and integrated IP, and driven silicon from architecture through tape-out and qualification in high-reliability environments, this is an opportunity to lead from the front technically and operationally.
The Role
You will lead the execution of mixed-signal ASIC development programs, ensuring technical excellence, disciplined delivery, and alignment with product architecture and system requirements.
Working closely with product architects and cross-functional stakeholders, you will translate high-level architectural intent into structured engineering execution, driving best practices across the ASIC lifecycle.
This is a hands-on leadership role — combining technical authority, team mentorship, and program ownership.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Technical Leadership & Execution
-
Lead end-to-end development of advanced mixed-signal ASICs
-
Drive execution from IP development and SoC integration through verification, implementation, and productization
-
Ensure adherence to schedule, cost, quality, and performance objectives
-
Lead structured design reviews and technical decision gates
-
Apply industry best practices to improve productivity and development quality
Engineering Excellence
-
Guide RTL design, digital IP integration, verification strategy, hardware emulation, DFT, and physical design flows
-
Ensure strong validation and verification methodologies for mixed-signal devices
-
Oversee integration of high-speed mixed-signal components (ADC/DAC, PLL, SERDES, etc.)
-
Support application of radiation-hardening techniques for space environments
-
Drive continuous improvement in development processes and EDA workflows
Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration
-
Lead and mentor ASIC engineers and designers across geographically distributed teams
-
Foster a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture
-
Work closely with product architects to ensure alignment between system intent and silicon implementation
-
Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of ASICs into final products
What We’re Looking For
You are a senior ASIC development professional with strong delivery experience and the credibility to lead technically complex programs.
Essential Experience
-
20+ years of experience in mixed-signal ASIC development
-
Proven track record delivering large-scale ASIC/SoC programs through full productization
-
Strong hands-on expertise in:
-
RTL design and digital IP integration
-
Verification and validation methodologies
-
Hardware emulation and DFT
-
Physical implementation and tape-out flows
-
Modern EDA toolchains
-
-
Technical knowledge of mixed-signal subsystems including high-speed ADC/DAC, PLLs, SERDES
-
Experience with radiation-hardening techniques for high-reliability or space applications
Personal Profile
-
Technically authoritative and comfortable leading detailed engineering discussions
-
Strong program execution mindset with attention to quality and delivery
-
Effective communicator across engineering and non-engineering stakeholders
-
Experience working in complex, cross-cultural, globally distributed organisations
-
Committed to mentoring and developing high-performing teams
-
Continuous improvement and innovation-driven mindset
Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to take technical ownership of advanced space-grade ASIC programs while remaining closely connected to engineering execution.
You will influence methodology, drive delivery excellence, and help shape next-generation silicon in one of the most demanding application domains — without stepping into a purely executive management function.
