Component Quality Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Component Quality Engineer (CQE) to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the quality, authenticity, and reliability of electronic components moving through our organisation. In this position, you will work closely with Quality Control Inspectors, Sales, Purchasing, Compliance, and external partners, acting as the go-to technical expert on the production floor. You will support inspection teams, resolve quality issues, evaluate non-conformances, and ensure that all components meet the required standards before reaching our customers.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role suited to someone who is technically strong, detail-oriented, and confident interpreting datasheets, investigating anomalies, and communicating directly with manufacturers when deeper verification is required. You will also contribute to process improvements, documentation development, and team training, helping to drive continuous improvement across the quality function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and inspect discrepant products linked to Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, and Customer Returns (including semiconductors, capacitors, and passive components).

  • Interpret manufacturer datasheets and research component specifications.

  • Document inspection findings through written reports and photographs.

  • Communicate with manufacturers to verify part information and authenticity.

  • Process and report non-conforming materials in line with the quality management system.

  • Address customer quality concerns and support root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures.

  • Write and review operational procedures and work instructions to support process optimisation.

  • Cross-reference part numbers to determine suitable alternatives for customer requirements.

  • Respond to technical queries regarding part markings, component identification, and inspection results.

  • Maintain internal databases and ensure accurate records.

  • Train and support QC Inspectors in inspection techniques and datasheet interpretation.

  • Perform Out-of-Box Audits to ensure adherence to inspection, testing, and shipping procedures.

  • Provide technical guidance and testing support for CAPA activities.

  • Uphold ANSI ESD S20.20 compliance requirements.

  • Work collaboratively to help the team reach performance goals and KPIs.

Core Competencies

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail

  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment

  • Strong understanding of basic electronics

  • Quality-compliant mindset with a focus on accuracy and process adherence

  • Willingness to be cross-trained across functions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.

  • At least 3 years of recent experience in Front-of-Line or End-of-Line semiconductor processes.

  • Hands-on experience with die attach, wire bonding, molding, marking, solder ball attach, electronic component packaging, and final visual inspection (preferred).

  • Background in semiconductor or contract equipment manufacturing (preferred).

  • Basic knowledge of failure analysis techniques, including decapsulation, solderability testing, and functional/electrical checks.

  • Ability to operate X-ray machines, decapsulation tools, baking ovens, and basic test equipment.

  • Strong analytical thinking, documentation, and reporting skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret test results accurately.

  • Excellent communication skills in English; Dutch language skills are a plus.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and inventory management systems.

  • Flexibility to work overtime when required.

  • Experience working in ANSI/ESD, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 environments.
