Design Manager, Facilities Construction - Semiconductors

A leading global semiconductor manufacturer is seeking a Design Manager, Global Facilities to lead the design and build development of major semiconductor manufacturing and cleanroom projects across its US operations. This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for assembling and directing multidisciplinary engineering teams, acting as the owner’s representative throughout design and construction, and ensuring projects meet stringent technical, operational, safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.

The successful candidate will lead Build Development for complex front-end semiconductor manufacturing environments, developing and validating build criteria, scope justifications, and concept packages across MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Process) and CSA (Civil, Structural, Architectural) disciplines. They will work closely with engineering SMEs, construction teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues, maintain design intent, review bids and contracts, validate cost estimates, and oversee construction progress.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead build development and design activities for major semiconductor manufacturing and cleanroom projects across multiple U.S. sites.
• Build, lead, and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and subject-matter experts.
• Serve as the Owner’s Build Representative during design development and construction.
• Develop and validate technical criteria, concepts, scopes, and project justification across MEP and CSA disciplines.
• Drive design reviews, technical issue resolution, change control, and design-intent compliance.
• Ensure projects meet applicable safety codes, building regulations, quality requirements, and internal standards.
• Review design bids, contracts, cost estimates, and construction progress.
• Partner with engineering and construction stakeholders to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved scope, schedule, and budget.
• Support continuous improvement and leverage digital/AI tools to improve engineering productivity, automation, and decision-making.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of Facilities Build experience within front-end semiconductor manufacturing environments.
• Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary build or engineering teams.
• Deep technical understanding of MEP and CSA systems, particularly within semiconductor fabs and cleanroom environments.
• Experience taking complex projects through design development and construction.
• Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical topics to diverse stakeholders.
• Experience working across multiple sites, geographic locations, and engineering disciplines is highly desirable.
• PMP, CAPM, or similar project management certification is advantageous.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and construction excellence.
• Experience using AI-enabled productivity tools such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, prompt-based workflows, automation, or data-driven decision support is a plus.
