Team and Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on firmware engineering manager with expertise in wireless SoC firmware engineering. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of innovation and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.
Ixana is developing various reference hardware with Wi-R chips, including smartglasses, earbuds, smartwatches, EEG nodes, EMG nodes, smartphones, heart rate monitors, and smart rings.
The successful candidate will lead the design, implementation, and validation of firmware for Wi-R based reference hardware, as well as the development of the Wi-R protocol. As a leader, you will manage, develop, and grow your team to deliver results while collaborating with cross-functional teams across the organization.
Job Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, timelines, and resources
- Establish processes and mechanisms for efficient execution of priorities
- Implement a firmware development process for Wi-R reference hardware
- Drive innovation with your team to tackle challenges
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Lead and coordinate technical decisions in areas such as Wi-R protocol development, board bring-up, and hardware-software co-design
Minimum Qualifications
- BS with 5+ years of experience in embedded software design
- 3+ years of experience managing a high-performance team
- Experience partnering with hardware teams to define and implement firmware, drivers, and algorithms for optimized hardware
- Experience with WiFi, Bluetooth, or similar wireless technologies
- Understanding of wireless systems, MAC and PHY layer operations, digital signal processing, Tx/Rx performance metrics, regulatory constraints, and coexistence issues
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong collaborator with excellent communication skills, experienced in managing cross-team and cross-geography collaboration, and adept at managing by influence
- Experience with embedded hardware
- Familiarity with low-level hardware interfaces, register and interrupt programming, bare-metal software development, and clock and power management
The position is based in our West Lafayette, IN office.
