Hardware Engineer – Wireless & IoT Systems
Our client is seeking an experienced Hardware Engineer to join their growing hardware team. This full-time, permanent position reports to the Head of Hardware and is based at their UK headquarters.
The team designs and develops wireless-connected products for the IoT industry, using cellular radio modules and technologies ranging from high-performance network processors to low-power MCU systems.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the design, development, and testing of hardware platforms and custom components, working independently and with external specialists to deliver reliable, production-ready solutions. The role offers opportunities to expand skills in wireless technologies and contribute across the full product lifecycle—from concept to production and compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Lead hardware design, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and placement reviews.

Prepare and maintain technical documentation for design, testing, and manufacturing.

Conduct verification and validation testing, and develop manufacturing test processes.

Support manufacturing and quality control activities.

Provide technical consultancy and respond to customer and internal engineering queries.
Essential Skills & Experience
-
Power supply design: DC-DC and linear regulators (?10 W), PoE, low-noise and transient regulation.

Interfaces: RS232, RS4xx, I²C, SPI, flash, DDR, Ethernet (10/100/GbE), SFP, USB3, PCIe.

Wireless technologies: Bluetooth, Zigbee, Wi-Fi frontend design, LNAs, PAs, filters, cellular modems.

PCB layout: High-speed, high-frequency, and power distribution design.

Design for manufacture and product verification using lab test equipment.

Knowledge of regulatory compliance including RED and safety standards.
