Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary technical interface for strategic customers developing applications with high-voltage MOSFET and wide-bandgap semiconductor technologies.
  • Develop, document, and support high-efficiency reference designs and customer applications up to 10 kW, including:
    • Traction inverters and on-board chargers for EV/HEV
    • Industrial motor drives and servo drives, including 3-phase systems
    • Phase-shifted full-bridge (PSFB) topologies for isolated DC-DC conversion
    • LLC resonant converters, including half-bridge and full-bridge configurations
    • Totem-pole PFC and other high-frequency power-conversion topologies
  • Perform detailed power-loss modelling, thermal analysis, and efficiency optimisation using tools such as PLECS, LTspice, Mathcad and equivalent platforms.
  • Design and validate high-performance gate-drive circuits optimised for fast switching, including low-inductance designs, negative-voltage turn-off, active Miller clamping and short-circuit protection.
  • Conduct customer training, technical design reviews and on-site application debugging.
  • Develop technical documentation including application notes, white papers, evaluation-board documentation and competitive analysis.
  • Work closely with semiconductor design, reliability and product teams to provide customer-driven feedback for next-generation power devices.
  • Support field applications engineers and distribution partners across international markets.

Required Qualifications

  • MSEE or PhD in Power Electronics, or BSEE with 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience designing switched-mode power supplies, motor drives or other power-conversion systems using high-voltage MOSFETs and/or wide-bandgap semiconductor technologies.
  • Proven track record of successful production designs involving:
    • 3-phase motor drives/inverters, ideally 10 kW or higher
    • Phase-shifted full-bridge converters
    • LLC resonant converters
    • Totem-pole or bridgeless PFC
  • Expert-level understanding of:
    • Si/SiC MOSFET switching behaviour, body-diode characteristics and third-quadrant operation
    • High-speed, low-inductance PCB layout techniques for high-performance power semiconductor applications
    • Advanced Si/SiC gate-driver design, including desaturation protection, soft shutdown and dv/dt control
    • High-frequency magnetic design, including transformers and resonant inductors
  • Proficiency with simulation tools such as PLECS, SIMetrix/SIMPLIS, LTspice or PSIM and experience using high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, double-pulse test equipment and thermal/calorimetric measurement systems.
  • Experience creating or validating SPICE models is advantageous.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to engineering audiences.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10–25%, including domestic and international travel.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience with a leading power semiconductor, SiC or GaN manufacturer.
  • Published technical papers or patents relating to power electronics and/or the topologies outlined above.
  • Experience with automotive or industrial qualification requirements, including AEC-Q101.
  • Direct experience supporting customers through design-in, validation and production ramp.
