Purchasing Manager – Electronic Components

We are working with a global organisation within the electronic components supply chain to recruit a Purchasing Manager based in Shanghai.
This position will lead a team of buyers responsible for sourcing electronic components, managing supplier relationships, and supporting sales teams by securing competitive supply solutions. The role requires a strong combination of procurement expertise, team leadership, and market awareness within the semiconductor and electronic components industry.

The Role
As Purchasing Manager, you will:
• Lead and manage a team of buyers, ensuring sourcing opportunities are progressed efficiently through internal systems
• Support the sales organisation by managing escalations and sourcing opportunities
• Ensure supplier quotations and purchasing data are accurately maintained in internal systems
• Ensure sourcing responses meet agreed service level timelines
• Review purchasing opportunities alongside market intelligence teams to ensure optimal sourcing strategies
• Monitor team workloads and allocate opportunities to maintain efficiency and balance
Procurement & Supply Management
• Oversee the sales order and purchase order management process
• Ensure the team secures competitive global pricing and reliable supply sources
• Confirm supplier selections meet internal vendor qualification standards
• Ensure purchase orders are placed promptly and delivery schedules are maintained
• Manage supplier performance and address any delivery, quality, or fulfilment challenges
• Work closely with internal teams responsible for supplier development, market intelligence, and asset management
• Ensure freight, tariff, and logistics considerations are included in purchasing decisions
Team Leadership
• Build strong relationships between the purchasing team and sales teams to improve collaboration
• Monitor individual team performance and support professional development
• Assess team members’ skills and motivation levels to guide training and development initiatives
• Support a professional, collaborative, and disciplined office culture
What We’re Looking For
• 5+ years’ experience in sourcing or procurement, with 3+ years managing a team
• Strong experience sourcing electronic components or semiconductor products, such as integrated circuits, passives, memory, or CPUs
• Experience operating within electronics distribution, trading, or global supply chain environments
• Strong supplier negotiation and procurement strategy skills
• Ability to manage multiple sourcing opportunities in a fast-moving commercial environment
Qualifications
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, business, or a related field
• Experience preparing reports, sourcing analysis, or market insights to support decision-making
• Proficiency in standard office tools and data analysis platforms
