RF Design Engineer – Telecoms & Infrastructure
Overview
We are looking for a highly motivated RF Design Engineer to join our telecoms and network infrastructure engineering team. This entry?level role is ideal for a recent Master’s graduate with a degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. You will support the design, development, and testing of RF circuits and subsystems used in wireless communication networks, including cellular, microwave backhaul, small cells, and other infrastructure-grade radio equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing RF front-end modules and subsystems used in telecom equipment such as base stations, repeaters, remote radio heads, and microwave links.
- Support development of RF circuits including PAs, LNAs, filters, mixers, oscillators, PLLs/frequency synthesisers, and duplexers.
- Contribute to matching network design and performance optimisation for high?power and high?linearity telecom applications.
Simulation, Modelling & Analysis
- Use industry-standard RF simulation tools (e.g., ADS, AWR Microwave Office, HFSS, CST) to model circuit behaviour and electromagnetic effects.
- Perform system?level analysis including noise figure budgeting, linearity assessments (IP3, ACPR), and link budget considerations relevant to telecom standards.
- Correlate simulation predictions with real measurement data; propose design refinements.
Testing, Validation & Compliance
- Assist with lab-based evaluation of RF circuits using instruments such as VNAs, spectrum analysers, signal generators, and power meters.
- Support validation of telecom equipment against regulatory and operator requirements (e.g., 3GPP specs, ETSI standards, EMC compliance).
- Participate in characterisation of RF performance across temperature, voltage, and frequency ranges.
Product Development & Cross?Functional Work
- Work with senior RF, digital, and systems engineers to support end-to-end development of telecom infrastructure products.
- Support DFM/DFT practices and assist with transition from prototype to production.
- Prepare technical documentation, test reports, and contribute to design reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, RF & Microwave Engineering, or equivalent.
- Good understanding of RF circuit fundamentals, S?parameters, impedance matching, and transmission line theory.
- Familiarity with RF simulation tools (ADS, AWR, HFSS, CST, or similar).
- Basic exposure to RF measurement techniques and common test equipment.
- Strong analytical, problem?solving, and communication skills.
- Interest in telecoms, wireless communications, and network infrastructure technologies.
