Key Account Manager – Trade Sales

Location: Home-Based | South East England

Build Lasting Partnerships Within the Electrical & Building Products Market

An established manufacturer of specification-led products is looking to appoint a commercially driven Key Account Manager to manage and grow an established customer base across the South East.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced field sales professional who enjoys building long-term relationships, identifying new business opportunities and delivering sustainable commercial growth within the electrical, building services or construction supply sector.

Joining a well-established sales team, you'll inherit a successful territory with an existing portfolio of customers while also being given the autonomy to develop new business opportunities and expand market share across the region.

The Opportunity

Reporting into the Regional Sales Manager, you'll take ownership of a well-developed sales territory, managing relationships with key trade customers while identifying opportunities to increase revenue and strengthen customer engagement.

Success in the role will come from developing trusted partnerships, understanding customer needs and delivering commercially effective solutions that create long-term value for both the customer and the business.

You'll work closely with colleagues across internal sales, customer support and technical teams, ensuring customers receive a seamless experience from enquiry through to project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Account Management & Business Development

  • Manage and develop an established portfolio of trade accounts across your territory.

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities within existing and emerging markets.

  • Build strong relationships with contractors, distributors, wholesalers and other key industry stakeholders.

  • Develop strategic account plans that support long-term revenue growth.

  • Regularly review customer performance and identify opportunities to increase market share.

Commercial Performance

  • Take ownership of regional sales objectives and deliver against agreed commercial targets.

  • Prepare sales forecasts, pipeline updates and account development plans.

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer requirements to identify new opportunities.

  • Negotiate commercial agreements while maintaining long-term customer relationships.

Customer Engagement

  • Provide a high level of customer service and account support throughout the sales process.

  • Deliver professional product presentations and commercial discussions.

  • Act as a trusted advisor, understanding customer challenges and recommending appropriate solutions.

  • Ensure customers receive ongoing support through close collaboration with internal teams.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with internal sales, technical specialists and project support teams to maximise customer satisfaction.

  • Share market intelligence and customer feedback to support wider business objectives.

  • Contribute to regional sales planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

We're looking for an enthusiastic and commercially focused sales professional who enjoys developing relationships and growing business within technical or trade-led markets.

You are likely to have:

  • Experience in field sales, key account management or business development.

  • A background within the electrical, lighting, construction, building products or building services sectors would be advantageous.

  • A proven track record of developing long-term customer relationships and achieving commercial targets.

  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.

  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to managing your own territory.

  • The ability to identify opportunities and convert them into sustainable business growth.

  • Strong organisational skills with experience managing customer pipelines and sales activity.

  • Good IT skills and confidence using CRM systems alongside Microsoft Office applications.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This role offers the chance to inherit a successful territory while providing genuine autonomy to shape future growth.

You'll join a collaborative commercial team where relationship building, customer service and long-term partnerships are valued just as highly as sales performance. With a well-established customer base and strong market reputation, you'll have an excellent platform from which to further develop your career within technical sales.

If you enjoy working independently, building trusted customer relationships and delivering commercial results within a dynamic market, this could be an excellent next step in your career.
