Senior Mechanical Engineer – Mission Critical Infrastructure

Lead Mechanical Design on Large-Scale Critical Infrastructure Projects
Our client is expanding its engineering team and is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in the design and delivery of complex mission-critical facilities across France.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced building services or mechanical engineer with expertise in HVAC systems and critical environments who enjoys taking ownership of technical delivery from concept through to commissioning.
Working as part of an international engineering organisation, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop robust, energy-efficient mechanical solutions for technically demanding infrastructure projects.
The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to lead the mechanical engineering function across multiple projects, ensuring designs are technically sound, compliant with local regulations and aligned with client requirements.
You'll work closely with architects, structural engineers, electrical specialists, project managers and external consultants, providing technical leadership while helping coordinate engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Engineering Leadership

Lead the design and coordination of mechanical building services across complex infrastructure developments.

Develop, review and refine HVAC designs to ensure performance, efficiency and compliance with project objectives.

Provide technical leadership throughout design development, procurement, construction support and commissioning.

Ensure engineering documentation remains accurate and aligned with project requirements.
Design Coordination

Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate mechanical systems into wider building designs.

Coordinate with consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers throughout project delivery.

Review engineering submissions, technical calculations and equipment selections to ensure quality and consistency.

Resolve design challenges through practical engineering solutions that support programme delivery.
Technical Assurance

Evaluate mechanical system performance with a focus on reliability, resilience and operational efficiency.

Support design reviews, technical workshops and engineering approvals.

Identify engineering risks early and work with project teams to implement effective mitigation strategies.

Promote engineering best practice and continuous improvement across project teams.
Project Support

Provide engineering input during construction, testing and commissioning phases.

Assist with technical queries, design changes and site coordination activities.

Support project teams in delivering successful client outcomes while maintaining technical quality standards.

Contribute to lessons learned and future design improvements across the wider engineering function.
About You
We're looking for an experienced mechanical engineer with a strong background in complex building services or mission-critical infrastructure.
You are likely to have:

A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.

Significant experience delivering mechanical or HVAC engineering projects.

Strong understanding of chilled water, cooling systems and mechanical plant design.

Experience working on technically demanding facilities such as data centres, industrial plants, healthcare, laboratories or other critical environments.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

The ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
