Country Manager – UK & Ireland

Fintech | Payments | Connectivity | Commercial Leadership

Lead the market. Transform the business. Define the next phase of growth.

This is an opportunity to take the helm of the UK & Ireland region of a business operating at the intersection of payments, connectivity and technology — with the backing of a global organisation and the ambition to unlock its next phase of growth.

Our client is seeking an exceptional commercial leader to drive the UK & Ireland business forward, accelerate revenue growth and expand market presence across established and emerging industry verticals. Reporting to the SVP, Managing Director EMEA, you will take ownership of the regional go-to-market strategy, lead business development and account management, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of the business.

This is much more than a traditional country leadership position. It is a hands-on, commercially focused role for someone who can set the strategic direction, build and inspire high-performing teams, win major new customers and personally drive the opportunities that matter most.

If your Superpowers are the strategic vision of a business leader with the instincts and determination of a proven deal-maker, this is your opportunity to make a significant impact.

The opportunity

Our client delivers an integrated payments and connectivity platform that enables businesses to accept transactions, connect devices and orchestrate payments through a secure, managed and PCI-DSS-certified solution stack.

By bringing together multiple providers and technologies in one platform, the business simplifies complex payment environments and enables customers to deliver seamless omnichannel experiences.

Its solutions serve a diverse and evolving marketplace, with particular expertise across unattended payments, speciality retail, parking, fuel and convenience.

As Country Manager, you will lead the commercial strategy to capitalise on this opportunity — strengthening existing customer relationships, winning new logos, developing strategic partnerships and opening doors into new markets and verticals.

You will have the autonomy to influence market direction, the support of experienced pre-sales and partner teams, and access to a continually evolving portfolio of innovative products and services.

What you will do

Own the growth agenda

  • Take full ownership of UK & Ireland commercial performance, driving revenue growth, profitability and delivery against ambitious business objectives.

  • Develop and execute a compelling go-to-market strategy aligned with the wider EMEA and global business.

  • Identify new market opportunities, expand into adjacent verticals and build sustainable, scalable revenue streams.

  • Own the regional P&L, budgeting, forecasting and sales performance.

Win new business and strategic accounts

  • Lead from the front, personally engaging with senior decision-makers and driving the most strategically important opportunities through to completion.

  • Build a robust pipeline of new business and deliver consistent new-logo acquisition, cross-selling and upselling.

  • Develop and strengthen relationships with customers, channel partners, distributors and other key industry stakeholders.

  • Establish the business as a trusted advisor, helping customers solve complex commercial challenges through innovative payments and connectivity solutions.

Build a high-performing commercial business

  • Recruit, develop and retain exceptional talent across sales, business development and account management.

  • Establish a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and high performance.

  • Set clear sales objectives, KPIs and performance expectations, supported by effective pipeline management, forecasting and disciplined sales execution.

  • Work closely with pre-sales and partner teams to maximise the effectiveness of the wider commercial organisation.

Shape the future of the business

  • Work collaboratively with EMEA leadership and global stakeholders to identify and pursue strategic growth opportunities.

  • Partner with Product, Operations, Finance and other functions to align commercial priorities with product development and business investment.

  • Identify new routes to market, strategic partnerships and potential acquisition opportunities that support long-term growth.

  • Build deep market expertise and represent the business with credibility across the payments, retail and connectivity ecosystems.

What you will bring

You are an accomplished B2B sales leader with a strong track record of growing businesses, winning customers and developing successful commercial teams within fintech, payments or a closely related technology environment.

You understand that great leadership is about more than setting direction. You are equally comfortable developing a market strategy, coaching your team, negotiating with C-suite stakeholders and getting directly involved when a major opportunity needs to be closed.

You will bring:

  • A demonstrable record of commercial leadership and revenue growth within B2B and mid-market sales, ideally in fintech or payments.

  • At least seven years of experience leading sales, business development and commercial teams.

  • A strong track record of new-business acquisition, strategic account development and delivering against challenging sales targets.

  • Experience managing both direct and indirect sales channels, including partners, distributors and broader ecosystem relationships.

  • Strong commercial acumen, including P&L ownership, business planning, forecasting and pipeline management.

  • Established industry relationships and credibility across one or more relevant sectors, particularly payments, network security, unattended payments or parking.

  • The ability to influence senior stakeholders, negotiate effectively and build trusted relationships at executive level.

  • Experience developing talent and leading teams within a matrixed, cross-functional organisation.

  • A strategic mindset combined with the energy, resilience and pragmatism to turn plans into measurable results.

  • A willingness to travel frequently across the UK & Ireland and engage directly with customers and partners.

A technical degree or MBA would be advantageous.

The leadership qualities that will set you apart

A proven deal-maker. You know how to convert opportunities into revenue, navigate complex sales cycles and maintain momentum from first engagement through to contract signature and successful implementation.

A builder of talent. You attract high-calibre people, develop future leaders and create an environment where ambitious professionals can do their best work.

A commercially minded strategist. You can identify where the next wave of growth will come from, make informed investment decisions and translate market insight into actionable plans.

A credible industry voice. You understand the customer landscape, speak confidently with senior decision-makers and can position the business as a specialist partner rather than simply another technology provider.

A hands-on leader. You lead by example, remain close to the market and are prepared to take personal ownership of the opportunities that will make the greatest difference.

How success will be measured

Your success will be visible in tangible commercial outcomes:

  • Exceeding UK & Ireland revenue and business performance targets.

  • Winning new customers and expanding the company's market footprint.

  • Building a strong, predictable pipeline and a consistently effective sales organisation.

  • Developing high-performing teams and productive strategic partnerships.

  • Establishing the business as a recognised specialist in its target markets.

  • Identifying and delivering new avenues for sustainable, profitable growth.

The next step

For an ambitious commercial leader with the experience to deliver and the appetite to make a difference, this is an opportunity to shape the future of an established global payments and connectivity business.

You will combine strategic influence with genuine commercial ownership, lead a talented team and play a central role in unlocking the next chapter of growth across the UK & Ireland.

Are you ready to lead from the front, win in the market and build something exceptional?

We would welcome a confidential conversation.
