About the role
We are seeking a commercially focused Excess Buyer to join the APAC Excess team. The Excess Buyer will manage small to mid-sized excess inventory accounts, qualify inventory opportunities, develop supplier relationships, and convert opportunities into customer-backed purchases. This position represents a core account-ownership level within the Excess function and provides a strong platform for career progression into more senior responsibilities.
The successful candidate will combine commercial judgement, technical awareness, negotiation capability, and strong business acumen to create value for customers, suppliers, and the wider electronic component supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage assigned small and mid-sized excess inventory accounts and develop relationships established by Junior Excess Buyers.

Review, qualify, and prioritise excess, obsolete, surplus, and unwanted electronic component inventory lists received from customers and suppliers.

Validate critical inventory information, including MPN, manufacturer, quantity, date code, condition, packaging, target price, and inventory location.

Evaluate commercial opportunities and negotiate standard excess purchasing transactions within approved authority levels.

Escalate complex, high-value, or exceptional purchasing opportunities when appropriate.

Work closely with Sales teams to identify customer demand, matched inventory opportunities, proactive offers, and potential cost-saving opportunities.

Coordinate purchase order follow-up, supplier communication, delivery updates, and issue resolution with relevant internal teams.
Required Experience:
- Experience in independent distribution, excess inventory or electronic components
- Understanding of excess, surplus, obsolete, or electronic component inventory.
- Ability to review and qualify inventory lists and understand key fields such as MPN, manufacturer, quantity, date code, packaging, condition, location, and lead time.
